When you think of how you would react in certain situations, like having your bike stolen or being mugged, you'd probably think and hope that you'd either 1) Kick the guys ass and leave or 2) subdue him and then call the police.
I can say from personal experience, if you regularly fantasize about this kind of shit or think about it, you'll probably end up doing neither of the outcomes you expected. For example, I used to think that if someone was trying to steal from me, I'd lay the cracked head. Well I can say that, the opportunity presented itself and I didn't do what I expected.
Here's what happened...
I locked my bike up along with my girl's bike to a pole outside. I remember seeing this crackhead walking on the same street and then go into the store we were about to go into. So we thought nothing of it. We go inside and do our thing. As I'm coming back to the front of the store I see that same crack head touch my bike and he looked like he was examining the lock. So I run outside (briskly walked) and yelled at him "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". He replies "Oh this is my bike". I tell him its not, and that it belongs to me and to get the fuck away from it. He stops what he's doing and then asks about my girlfriends bike and whether its mine also. I tell him yes and to get the fuck away. I asked him if hes trying to steal my bike and he says yes. He then proceeds to say sorry and says "Respect". I tell him to leave before I call the cops. Meanwhile during this whole altercation, I'm wondering whether I should hit him or not. I can say I didn't hit him and I didn't proceed to kick his ass. He left without any violence.
Maybe if he attacked me it would've ended differently, but because he was compliant and didn't do anything else, I'm glad I didn't hit him. Though I feel like I should have.
Anyway, what would you guys do?

Bicycling... My new addiction
Recently got bit with the cycling bug, and I'm obsessed. My only obsession though is to be able to generate so much power from my two legs that I can keep up pace with traffic.. approximately 60km per hour. The kicker? Doing this with a cheap sub $300 old and USED (Not Vintage) entry level road bike. I recently switched over from a JAMIS trail X2 hard tail mountain bike, which is bitter sweet for me. My jamis was pretty nice looking, but it lacked the ability to pump out a higher top speed. My new OLD bike looks like shit.
See shit bike here:
What I did with this piece of shit bike
I duct taped it! check it out the beast now!
Also feast your eyes on this!
Pretty sexy eh?
While I didn't feel too happy riding the grey piece of shit. I can honestly say that after spending 8+ hours on this, I'm pretty happy with the results. The only thing that is lacking is a logo... any suggestions?
My stats on biking so far?
Flat road: 45-47 km per hour for a short period of time.
Average trip speed: 21 km per hour
Bike weight: 27 Lbs (not your lightest)
Bike: Raleigh Record (shit)
wheels : 1 3/8 approximately.
I'm trying to not be the douchey roadies that you see on all over the city, hence the cheap road bike and hence the duct tape. I don't even get why they wear sponsored jerseys... they aren't sponsored. Would you wear a racing suit to go on a leisure drive? Probably not.
Anyway, for $200 bucks I can't complain. I have a road bike , with road gears, and mountain bike shifters. Ideally I would have a mountain bike, with road tires, and road gears, and disc breaks. This will come in time. For now, I'm equally content with my new revamped ride.
For anyone following my blog, come post your pictures of your rides! Lets see what you're riding. If you're in the toronto area, lets go ride!

ORIGAMI ASSOCIATES
Origami Associates
main contact: Nauman
Location: Mississauga
Website: http://origamiassociates.com/
My experience:
My partner and I paid this company upwards of $7000. What did we get for this large sum of money?
1) A website that doesn't function
2) A website that doesn't look up to standard. You're better off hiring off elance or odesk.
3) $7000 in the hole and a set back of about a year.
the websites we hired them to build was www.teamshuffle.com. What was delivered is best described through an analogy. Imagine a company pitching you their services for creating an awesome door. You're sold on the image and their friendliness. They then deliver the door and it turns out to be a piece of card board that vaguely looks like the one that was pitched. This is how my experience was with the website.
I had to take down the website due to its lack of functionality and appeal. What they do is they outsource their development to pakistan/india and charge a premium.
I brought this to the attention of Nauman, who was quick to help, but really, he's been trying to "help" for the last 2-3 months. There is nothing to show. The bugs aren't even fixed yet. He's promised me that he'd get back to me about a time line and also that the site would be redeveloped for appearance at no cost, due to the initial shotty workmanship. Well I can tell you this, he didn't follow through. He even tried to get more money from me. I told him no, for obvious reasons.
DO NOT WORK WITH THEM. CONTACT ME FIRST BEFORE IF YOU'D LIKE MORE INFORMATION.

SAUGAWEB DO NOT HIRE
Information about the company
I found this guy on craigslist and we spoke briefly, very friendly and responsive. We had an agreement, I paid him a portion of the fees upfront and then I started to hear from him infrequently. I gave him $800 sometime in september 2012. He sent me a link a few weeks back but other than that I have not heard from him. He has not consulted me with designs, has not made any effort to contact me. Once the first phase of the project is done, I'm not hiring him ever and I do not recommend hiring him. I'm not sure about other people's experience, but my experience with him was horrible.

Myth of inequality in America
We all know life is a race. It doesn't have to be that way, but unfortunately it is. How this relates? Well keeping this in mind, lets say we have two runners who are in a race. One person started earlier and has a 1000 meters advantage. The second runner started late, and so they are trying to catch up. Is it fair to ask the first runner to slow down? Sure its fair to ask. Is it fair to force them to slow down? No. Definitely not.
Now lets super impose this thought onto American society. Equality between Men and Women.
Men vs. Women.
Are men and women equal as of now? Yes they are. In some cases men have an advantage and in others women have the advantage, but more or less they are equal as whole. In fact, a lot of the perceived advantages that men have are not due to inequality, but due to individual choice. For example, when it comes to positions in high places within corporations and wage rate. Women, however, make it seem as if all the corporations and the government plan in secret to keep them oppressed. This is not the case. On average, women just don't pick jobs or put themselves in the position for jobs that lead to those big roles. How many women opt to go into dangerous jobs? Or How many women choose to stay with a company long enough and take all the necessary steps to be in position to get that spot. Being put in those high places boils down to the employer making a decision on what would be best, usually based on opinion and merit of the applicant. If you have two individuals (male and female) equal in all aspects (attractiveness, experience, time in, hours worked etc), ultimately it will boil down to the employers opinion of who would be better for the company. In a female run organization, I can confidently say they would pick the female; and it would be vice versa in a male run organization. So how is this unequal?
With regards to the pay gap, have you ever considered that it is a possibility that women work less hours overall than men? That they also pick jobs that make less, due to comfort and location? For example, working in the military or working in the oil fields. These jobs make on average $20 an hour. If a woman chose to work in an office setting as admin, it is more than likely they'd make less. No one is forecfully keeping women out of these jobs, it is really just based on preference of what they want to do.
If there are not enough businesses that are run by women, it just means women need to start more businesses. How is it fair for a man to hand off their business to a women just because she is a woman? Likewise, would it be fair that ask that women handed over control over their businesses to men? This is something that needs to be fixed over time, by women actually taking the steps to make businesses, not by men handing them over.
In some cases women have not been equal in the past and I don't deny that. I don't deny that women have had to come a long way to get where we are today and I also don't deny that it was a struggle. Today, in 2013, I cannot believe that women are not equal with men. I believe women actually have more of an advantage. Why? Women have become placed on a pedestal. Men are expected to provide for them, women have freedom to do almost whatever they want without repercussion - everything from hitting men, being rude to them, to being able to put a man behind bars quite easily. There are instances of this too, you just need to look them up on google! Maybe you've even experieneced it as well. Feminists really need to stop complaining and start actually doing things to make a difference. More action and less talk.
So how did we get to where we are today in terms of men running the world? It is nature and genetics. That is just how we were made. Men, on average, are genetically stronger than women physically, and so that lead to them being dominant. Women are, by nature ,supposed to be the nurturers and the ones who carry the baby, which make them more vulnerable during pregnancy. Men are not to blame for this. This is just how nature is and how we are. That is how inequality started and how gender roles formed. If we want to move forward, we really need to start moving away from blaming men for advantages that nature gave them. Over years and years of developing these roles, we reached the norms that we have today for men and women. That is just the way things are. Where we are today, women are more than equal to men, and it shows. They may not be in the high position places within corporations (explained above) or may overall make less (also explained above), but on an hourly wage for the same job, same hours worked, same amount of work completed, they make the same. They are able to abort a baby without the consent of a man and expect to receive child support (unfair), they are able to get away with assaulting a man , men are expected to take care of women, whether they need it or not (unfair), and etc.
Men started the race with advantages of being stronger and etc. Over time this led to having an advantage. Is it really fair to force men to step down from their places of power so that women can catch up? Men are doing this and so we need to drop this feminist bullshit.

Plus size is code for fat
Imagine this: you see a new commercial ad with a plus size guy dancing around in a speedo smiling. Or a bunch of plus size men using dove soap and saying their are regular Men.
A) You probably find it funny and think its a joke.
B) You probably find it funny and think its a joke.
Contrast:
Imagine this: You see a new ad with a plus size guy dancing around in underwear and smiling. Or a bunch of plus size women using dove soap saying they are regular women.
A) you think its an ad promoting healthy women
B)you think its an ad promoting healthy women.
The difference between the two is you'd never see the first one. EVER.
There is this new fad going on now and its called the "Plus size" campaign or by others who call it "Regular" Women. You've probably seen the commercials at some point, whether it be on youtube or a commercial following oprah, you'll probably remember an Ad that advertises big women and how beautiful they are. Sounds great right? I mean it promotes the importance of inner beauty, even though it attempts to sell you products that ehance your outer beauty. Talk about a mixed message eh? So what are these ads attempting to do, other than sell you products?
Well, for one, they are trying to promote the unhealthy lifestyle, which is usually due to laziness. They've found a way to capitalize on the laziness of individuals, which is a genius strategy! Everyone is lazy in some way, and in most of the ways, its laziness when it comes to exercising. Lack of exercise usually leads to overweightedness. Some might make the connection that there is a hidden agenda here, and that is to increase overall consumption of consumer products - mainly foods (ALL food, including unhealthy), to increase the size of their (creators of plus size products) wallet. I wouldn't be surprised if the creators of these plus size products actually owned stakes in fast food restaurants. So what better way is there than to capitalize on a trait we all have and are happy to embrace, if it were supported. For example, if a company said they would accept a bachelors degree, that a person bought from a street vendor for $1500, instead of putting in the time (4-5 years) to acquire one, I'm sure that street vendor would be an instant millionaire. Probably within a matter of minutes. So this is what these plus size ads are doing. They are saying "Its okay to be fat, you're still healthy!" when really you aren't.
They are also saying who cares about what other people think about your outer appearance, but buy these products it will make you prettier. Kind of a contradicting message no? These ads are giving the green light to eat unhealthy and not exercise. The harshness of the matter is, outer beauty matters and this is proven by even those, who claim to lack this shallowness, usually celebrities, when they continue to date only attractive people. Show me an ugly person Tyra Banks dated, and I'll eat my words.
The other thing that really irks me is the inequality that exists with these ads. You would never see an ad that promotes fat men being comfortable in their own skin or dancing around in their underwear or wearing Ralph Lauren polo shirts with the collars popped and their bellies sticking out. You would most likely think its a joke. So why are there so many of these ads for women?
I get it, there's healthy and then theres super model health (which is not healthy). The healthy that should be standard is someone fit, not someone plus sized. I also get that not all women can wear the same sizes, and women should understand that too. Its all about proportion. The thing about plus sized women is that these women usually are fat and are not fit. If they were fit, then they wouldn't be plus sized. No one is telling women you need to eat steam and play the xylophone on your ribs. The only message is that you need to be a healthy weight. Plus size is not a healthy weight or size. For the large majority of plus sized women, they are heavy and a lot of it is due to fat. The minority of women, usually the power lifters look plus sized, but are actually beaming with muscle. These women are fit. The women you see in plus sized ads are not. If we are going to do plus size ads for women, then we should also do the same for men, because not all men can have a six pack, pecks, and be 6ft tall (Bull shit to the six pack and pecks - every guy who works out can have something like that). Every woman can be physically proportional, which would mean they are fit and not actually plus sized. This "Regular" woman bull shit that fat women claim is a complete skew of the term, these women are not regular because they are above the average body composition for women. So they are not actually regular.
We shouldn't be promoting this unhealthy lifestyle. It will one day reach a point where we are all so comfortable and lazy that we don't give a fuck to work out and will just ride scooters all day to wherever we want to go. Its a very slippery slope and we need to reverse this. Stop promoting the its okay to be fat because thats the same as promoting uber skinniness. Instead we should be promoting that you need to be active and health and proportional!
I hate where this world is going and I hate the fact that some women still bitch about inequality. Women are literally the only people who can say its okay to be fat, but then judge men for being fat.

Lets get in shape!
There are a lot of fat people in the world. Some are fat due to poor circumstance, some due to disease, and for the most part a lot of them just have no drive, motivation, or will power. I recently tried to encourage a girl to start exercising. Of course there's no real polite way to suggest that someone is fat, unless you powder it with a lot of compliments, which I did. Even so, I'm still met with someone who was super offended. You really can't win. Her reason for her circumstance is she is sick. She also said she ate one meal a day plus snacks. How true that is, I don't know. What I can tell you though is she definitely doesn't know the fundamentals of healthy living.
Now, I'm not saying I'm some fitness guru or someone who is super fit or anything like that, because I'm not. I work out a few times a week, sometimes none, and I eat like shit. Sometimes I have mcdonalds 3 times in a week (Mcgangbang sandwich, A mcdouble + a junior chicken patty in between) without working out at all! I know for a fact my metabolism is shit, because after a week of not working out I put on weight and fat, so ultimately I'm your average person, maybe a little under average. I'd also like to say that, if it weren't for laziness, lack of drive, or motivation, almost anyone can lose weight; so long as they build the right habits. For example, this guy Drew Manning did an experiment where he purposely put on a shit load of weight and then lost it all after a year. While this dude might be a personal trainer and have the fitness background, it just shows that with hard work and knowledge, you can lose that poundage.
Before I got side tracked, I was talking about how this chick who claimed she was sick and hence her being overweight. I didn't go into what she had, but I asked her a few questions such as, can you walk? can you move your arms? are you able bodied. All of which she said yes. I also pointed out that Lance armstrong wont he tour de france 7 fucking times and he had cancer, to which she had no response. Unless you have some sort of disease, god forbid, where you cannot move due to excruciating pain, you really have no excuse for being obese. If you cannot move and are in exrcuciating pain due to obesity, then thats your fault and you should do all that is with in your will power to cut the weight. Any reason you give to not workout is just code for I'm lazy and couldn't give a damn. Being chubby is okay, and I'm not saying that I have a problem with people who are fat. If you like the way you are, then good for you and all the power to you! My main beef is with people who make an excuse for a predicament they are in. I've done it before, everyone has. Its time to start being responsible.
So with that, here is the workout I just completed for time. Not the best time, and probably one of the more difficult workouts I've done.
lets call this workout: shit storm.
57 minutes.
100 deadlifts of 120lb
100 squats of 180lb

57 minutes.

100 squats of 180lb
50 pullups
50 kettle bell swings per arm 25lbs
